I cannot imagine anything more frightening than to be trapped within a burning building. You describe the smoke, the burning, irritated eyes and the difficulty breathing. Thank goodness for rescue personnel. You touched upon what Debora was thinking during the blaze and it's interesting that she refused to panic and instead puzzled about an old cologne. Perhaps this is a safety mechanism. The final bit about not having health insurance because of the president made me laugh.          Thanks for sharing and happy anniversary.

This is a clever piece of poetry. Are we that bound and constrained by time? The rhyming flows freely and is effortless. Sometimes, we all need a respite from routines and appointments. "People found it was fine to just wait." A little less hustle and bustle can be restorative. Even Father Time seemed to need a rest.           Unfortunately, here at WDC there are time constraints known as deadlines. They are a necessary 'routine'.          Thanks for sharing and happy account anniversary.

Ah, precious memories are remembered through a pair of elephants. To a child they symbolize amazing great-grandparents who loved to travel. As an adult the girl realizes the elephants also harbour terrible memories. The good always blends with the bad.          "Had my great-grandparents had considered the slaughter of the elephants." I believe that second had is unnecessary. "Telling me to forget my sorry." I believe you meant to use the word sorrow. In the first paragraph you describe smells as having wafter and it should be wafted.          This is a heartfelt story. Thank you for sharing and happy account anniversary.

This is a heartfelt tribute to a mother. I like the sentiment and sincerity. Kudos for remembering your Mom and what she has done for you. She must indeed be incomparable and deserving of your lavish praise. I hope she read and appreciated this poem. Happy account anniversary.

This is a tease. You have introduced two characters and dropped them in desolate territory. The scene is set, but now there are questions. I, as a reader, am hooked. I feel the tension, the desperation. What has led to this? Of course I ask why? "He left them bloody footprints torn by their oblivious desperation." That is one powerful sentence. The "desolate heir" has not much else to offer and he too suffers.          Thanks for sharing and happy account anniversary.

I'm hearing the swell of the ominous danger music as I read this piece of writing. The polite tone and interaction of the computer is a spooky backdrop. Even the ship's operating centre did not detect sabotage. Collins is a devious, cold sort, isn't he? The ending of this tale is a type of finality.          Thanks for sharing and happy account anniversary.

What else is the eldest sister to do, but keep things interesting? Some would call this pestering, or taking advantage of a known fear or weakness. The 'Do not open' is a nice touch. That big sibling should anticipate a retaliatory prank.          I like the format/tone of this tale. It reads as a conversation. "Let me explain." "Here, I must stop and tell you." "I also forgot to mention." I like the tantalizing ending prefaced with "by the way , did I tell you about the time?" Great hook.          Thanks for the laughs and happy account anniversary.

This is a funny story, but not at all amusing for the boss, Mr. Worthington. This Curdy fellow seems oblivious to his shortcomings as an employee. An iffy, questionable treasure map that leads to buried gold under an arcade in Albuquerque? Curdy has an advanced degree in cartography? Really? He was hired on the familial tie of being the wife's cousin? He certainly is exasperating. "To believe me to be that sharp." I roared with laughter. And priceless publicity?          I noticed one spelling error. "Confidant' is spelled "confident."          This comedy of so-called well-intentions is hilarious. Thanks for sharing and happy account anniversary.

Aww, these are heartfelt memories of a beloved grandfather. That brown hat carries a lifetime of memories. It represents a hard-working, family man.          May I suggest one minor correction? The final sentence needs a verb tense correction. I believe it should be " the brown hat rested on top of the casket."          Great story. Happy account anniversary.

This is a sweet story. Rescuing and cherishing a young robin forges a stronger bond between a mother and son. This life lesson teaches them both that every life is valuable. Every living creature deserves to be saved. No one life matters more than another.Happy account anniversary.

What's that old saying? You can't stop progress? It happens whether we agree with it, or not. Are new inventions always more convenient? Do they contribute to the quality of our lives? Most of the time we adapt and accept. This is a well-written story highlighting possible future life-enhancing inventions.          Happy account anniversary.

Wow. This is the beginning of so much more. Now I am intrigued. You've set the stage with a mystery. Where is the missing father? Is he a coward, a deserter? How does tha family cope and carry on with their lives? I like the close bond between the two boys.          Happy account anniversary.

I love this! Never mind all the so-called hats a Mom wears, you spelled it all out with variations of the letters SM. You probably are well aware that those particular letters also include sadomasochist. As you brilliantly described your role it has its moments of doubt and pain. I appreciate your humour! As a mother of three I know you're not exaggerating when you mention the fascination with the number six, or the constant repetition. I salute you Satisfied Mom. Being a parent is not for the faint of heart.          Thanks for sharing and happy account anniversary.

There's nothing like cherished snapshots. They reinforce memories, provide proof of moments caught in time. They can say so much without words. They are free of emotion, or possible misunderstandings. They record history. They appeal to our visual need to connect. We see so much in our lifetime.          Happy account anniversary.

Ah, Corona virus. It was and is a memorable disease. It did not discriminate and for too many it proved deadly. Yes, a cure was sought world-wide. I agree it generated a fear like no other. Everyone dealt with the economical effects. Time will tell if this virus mutates several times. Happy account anniversary.

You have managed to tell a compelling story in few words. I like this scenario and now wonder why this doesn't happen in real life. Why are bomb packages not moticed by civilians before the inevitable explosion? Returning the bomb is conceivable. Great dialogue. It moves the action forward at a brisk pace.Thank you for sharing and happy account anniversary.

Review of The Island of Bob  Open in new Window.
Review by SandraLynn Author IconMail Icon
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
This tale is hilarious and perfectly garbled misunderstood. To comment that Bob has been chasing his own tail is redundant. He is indeed one busy fellow. I love the names of the drinking establishment and the boat. Does this relate to that expression Bob's your uncle ? Really, who doesn't have an Uncle Bob? And Bob the Bobby? Of course! I suppose one could say Bob has everything well in hand, or is it his hand in everything. Thanks for the chuckles and happy account anniversary!

Ah, poor Matt! His hair dying was not just a team morale booster, or a signature look. I admire his tenacity and his creativity. I am chuckling as I envision him with a brief case and his nod to the coach's advice re work ethic. I've never heard of someone being so attractive, so enticing to bees. That might have been a bit problematic for a summer of camping outdoors. In my mind's eye I see Matt attempting to out run those enamored bees. The introduction says it all. Mother Nature doesn't care about style.          I have one wee suggestion. Where Matt begs you to buy hair dye I believe you need a tiny insertion of the word to. "Hair dye Dad. I need you to send down some hair dye, please!"          Thanks for sharing and putting a smile on my face.

There's nothing like the memories created and shared with a grandma. Your grandmother seems like a practical and accomplished woman. She could envision the harvest and seemed to enjoy the hard work needed to make that happen. She taught you a valuable lesson. Having fresh vegetables and fruit to eat is a great motivator.          You have a fantastic story here that you can build on and expand. Perhaps add descriptions of the different produce. What were the smells? What did you do specifically to ready the garden? Did you and grandma chat while you worked in that garden?          Thanks for sharing and happy account anniversary.

It's never a dull moment when you're camping with kids, is it? I rather appreciate the imaginative idea of an alligator stalking beaver in California. That makes for some great campfire tales. The images this version generates are so exciting. With some tracks the picture isn't always clear. I bet those boys will now know a canoe track when they see one.          I now have the image of a raccoon thief/explorer scrabbling along on three legs clutching its prize. Needs must...          Thanks for the chuckles !

I would love to not only imagine, but live a life like the one you described here in your poem. I realize it would have to be a brief respite. Real life is not always so bad and it does have its rewards. This poetry flows and mimics a carefree attitude. I like the positivity expressed herein.          What a delightful story. This woman is obviously an optimist seeking special treasures. This reminds me of my Nanny. She would adopt dolls from yard sales, give them a bath and sew a new wardrobe. Then she'd donate them to fundraisers. You describe this adventure as a fun way to meet people and re-home belongings.          Oooo, a revenge come to life, an answer to miserable prayer, karma . Those talent shows of which you write are grist for critics and naysayers. So many take pleasure in insulting wannabe stars and often humiliating them, too. Yes, it's a fact of life that we are not all talented enough to belt out songs, or dance gracefully. Some of us refuse to believe this though and seek validation in a most public manner. Simon Spark/ Bully Spark does seem familiar. This dejected/rejected reality show contestant does have one essential skill and Mr. Sparks is about to meet it.          Haha! "Mildred worked in customer service." Nice twist. Most so -called employees in the customer service field would probably love to yell, "I'm not a mind reader!" Oh, the stories, long-winded complaints and such they must suffer listening to, on repeat. Mil need not say, "I get it."          I've always believed the smaller breeds of dogs had the most attitude and bravado. They act tough and try to bely their size. They live by the motto 'don't mess with me.' Puppers has given himself a calling, a duty and he will see it through. He will protect his person no matter what happens even if she is oblivious to the ever present danger. If only we could understand what our canines are trying to communicate to us. We hear incessant barking. They are shouting warnings. "He licked her chin and and wagged his tail." Yep, there's one too many of the word and. Thanks for sharing and happy account anniversary.          Celebrating you with an Anniversary Review.
