I prefer to offer an in-depth review of others' writing. I will note the things I like, things that may not work as well for me as a reader, and supportive suggestions.
I will give the kind of review that I wish people gave me: rather detailed with emphasis on areas that need growth and areas that are pretty good already. And I'll review pretty much anything, whether a poem or an entire novel or anything in between. Admittedly, though, I do tend to be absent-minded, so it does happen that you might have to resend me the review request, but I promise I'll get around to it eventually.
Alternatively, if you ask, I can give you a scathing review with no fluff, if that is what you desire. However, in general, I'll give a polite, padded review.
If you're looking for a reviewer for your novel, I am open to doing chapter by chapter reviews. If that's what you want, please email me.
Casual for the most part. I will point out errors I see and offer suggested corrections. I like to focus on the content and formatting of the item. I love providing helpful comments and feedback that may improve the item if acted on.
I try to be honest and positive. My Christian faith is an important background factor. I hate rating low but have a system that determines how I grade.
I will say what I liked about your piece and if I have any suggestions for improvement. My reviews are usually short, sweet and to the point. I prefer to review short stories but will look at poetry if asked to.
In a single word, thorough. I will turn your piece upside down, shake the change out of its pockets and look at even the most minute details. I can be technical but will do so when emphasizing a larger point about the piece as a whole.
Looking for feedback on your writing? The type that points out which individual sentence is spectacular, or which needs more polish?
You can count me on then! I adore immersing myself in others' works. Literature has been my North Star for a long time. I've learned literature analysis at school (partially) so I have some basic ground coverage! For my reviews, I often focus on the general gist and the big idea first, then, I'll trim down to single sentences, identifying which is strong and which needs improvement. I'll also offer some helpful vocabulary and grammatical feedback if you want, as well as rewriting the sentence in my own voice to help you grasp the bigger picture!
If all of the above interest you, then don't be afraid to send me a request! I may be a bit shy, but I promise I mean no bite. Maybe -w-
My reviewing style varies. I may do a little edit if possible or pinpoint what I think is incorrect. My review is merely base on what I feel about your piece. If I enjoy it, I say it. If not, I tell you why I'm not.
I often do reviews on all Poetry Items- regardless of the genres, styles and the way it was written. However if you like, you can request a short story, chapter not the entire book or novel, articles and essays, etc.
Hi! I'll be happy to tell you what I like about your item's content and what emotion it evokes in me. If I see an area or two that need attention by way of improvement, I'll make suggestions for you. I will try to word my reviews in such a way that might garner you more views for the item when seen on the public reviewing page and here, in my reviewing forum. I will always do my best to carry on the Simply Positive motto.
I look at the title, premise, overall structure first. Then I see how it makes me feel. After that, I might comment on little errors which are easily fixed.
I mainly look for the 'flow' of the story. If I'm reading along, & it's 'flowing' just fine...I'm talking no 'bumps in the road', or something that's going to make me pause...then it is a very well written story. But if I hit a 'bump', trust me, you gonna know! I also hate 'mus' punctuation...no commas or periods...it misplaced commas & periods.
