Oldwarrior I just followed a link here recommending I sit here for a spell and read the work of someone who was well-loved in the community. I see your frequent notes in the newsfeed. Your insight I am sure helped every author who saw your instructive posts. I wish I had known you. Continued condolences to your son, family, friends, and anyone who knew you here. Thank you for your service so each one of us could continue to live in this great Nation without fear. I will hang out here in your portfolio reading some of your writings. Thank God for having the white case process so no one forgets what you did for this site. Rest in Peace tracker ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **
Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's passing when I read your note. I didn't know him but I found his site and I wanted to see what kind of stories and poems he wrote. I like poems so I will take a look at them and get to know him by reading his stories and poems. thank you for sharing Beacon40
I saw your bio, and I know that you might like a part of my 'To Do or Not To' tale when it comes along. Why? Well, I have a good bit in it about Journalism. I don't recall in what part I started to mention that profession, but it is all about humor and satire, my preference. I did a bit of journalism while I attended college many years ago. I liked your humor. You good at it. Alcides
Thanks for the welcome greeting. And thanks for your reviews. I appreciated both, as well as the input that you handed me. Six years, you say!? Well, that is a long time. I wonder how long WDC has been around. I am almost like you in writing. But, what I like best is humor and satire with my special fictional characters, all for laughs. The follies of my characters and their impending doom, though not always tragic. I don’t write poetry, much, just a tad. But, I made an exception for my brother as you might have read. He needed a poem for his genealogy text. You didn’t have to mention it, but I am glad you did. I am glad because I now know that there are those who feel like me--you for one. That is why I write short stories with short paragraphs. It makes for easy reading, and a reader feels he or she is moving along, not bogged down on a lengthy, drawn out paragraph with no end in sight. Besides, short paragraphs allow one to keep their concentration or attention much better. I know I lose my concentration when I read lengthy paragraphs. I think we both can agree that we can recall the gist of shorter paragraphs much easier. You didn’t need to mention, either, the matter about reciprocating, but I am glad you did. Old timers like me (66), know the value of showing gratitude, of returning a favor, of being kind, and of returning a greeting, etc. Well, from the moment I got my first review, I created a list of reviewers. Thus, I know who I have to visit in the near future, a show of camaraderie, if I may. And, finally, thanks for the kind remarks, regarding my To Do or Not To Do, Part I story. It was originally a large part of another story, but I pulled it out of that one. I did to create a two-part story--what we both prefer. And, undoubtedly, many others. Incidentally, I have a small disability pension from the VA. I hate talking about that, but I saw that you’re a disabled vet, and I thought you might like to know that I’m one, as well. Alcides
