| I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" : "Haiku: “Almost Spring”" It has been an interesting winter. Temps have gone up and down, up and down, up and down, like a roller-coaster. Looking forward to spring. I hope you are safe where you are. Jay O'Toole |
| I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" : "Epizeuxis: "Rain, Rain, Reign"" Today's poem has been created to add to the discussion in
The assignment is to create a poem about a holiday impression. Though it is not a codified holiday, spring is a true gift after the roller-coaster of temperatures we've experienced this winter. Here are my impressions of today. They come with my prayer, that the next two forecasted bouts of winter temps with be rather mild by comparison. Blessings, All! Jay O'Toole |

| I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" : "Adventures in Dentistry" We must send our condolences today to Jayne Since today's challenge at

| I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" : " The Conflating of Truth" Today's poem responds to Prompt #10 at
The prompt word is "conflate." This is not in my typical usage vocabulary. I had to study the online meanings I found. To the best of my ability I have described it in poetic form. Enjoy! Blessings, All! Jay O'Toole |
| Here's the latest update on my health. The last part of the process happened yesterday, during the post-op doctor's visit. I'm on the mend. I'm sleeping better. The pain is mostly gone, but some pain visits me occasionally during this recovery process. Thank you, All, for praying. Having a kidney stone hasn't been fun, but at least I've been blessed to go 65 years, before I had one. Many dietary changes are being memorized because I don't want another, but seriously...No Dark Chocolate, No Cheeses, and No Brewed Tea? That's emotional pain, but I am committed to the change. The past two weeks will serve as my Coach. |
| It's something about oxalates, Ladies. It increases when caffeinated tea is brewed in hot water. Unknown about herbal teas. I have to research every one of these teas I'm interested in drinking. Oxalates are new to me, too. They're also the reason I can't eat spinach anymore. |
| Get well soon teacher Jay O'Toole I didn't know that you were going though this. Its good that you are already on the way to recovery. Praying for fast recovery. |
| I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" : "Essential Bottles" Today's poem has been created in response to today's prompt from
We have bottles like this at my house (re: today's visual prompt). Some bottles hold oils for facial moisturizing. Some hold aromatic essences. Some are decorations on our windowsills. All have purposes for which we are grateful. Blessings, All! Jay O'Toole |
| I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" : "Logolift: "Change Time"" Today's poem has been created in response to the challenge from
Today is called Time Change Day in many parts of the United States, even though the light approaches the Earth with the same relative frequencies. 7:16 PM (local time) today was 6:16 PM (local time), yesterday with regard to the amount of sun left before sunset. It's a game we seem to play for the purpose of increasing sales after the typical workday. This, also, increases sales of spring and summer time activities. Sometimes I feel jaded in this regard, since many of our modern decisions seem to be made as it relates to money and business. Late days for spring, summer, and early autumn means more money can be spent on outdoor activities. Late autumn through winter profits from early nighttimes with holiday activities of Christmas lights, and cozy indoor settings. Bottom Line: Time, Earth, and Sun do not change anymore appreciably than they have been changing. Days increase by minutes, during the first half of the year, and decrease by minutes, during the last half of the year. However, twice each year we change our minds about what to call time, making our thoughts feel better about longer days and longer nights when it is appropriate to do so for our own interests. It's like we're changing the time zones twice a year, simply because we think it's a fun thing to do. Somehow our bodies take the cue of one week each to adjust to the "new time." Everybody, be careful out there. Sadly, accidents reportedly often increase, during the week following the Time Change with a sort of Jet Lag Effect. May the Lord keep us all safe as we adjust. | I've read that a native chief, when asked his opinion on daylight savings time, replied, "Only a white man would be so foolish to think he could cut a foot off the bottom of a blanket, sew it onto the top, and have a longer blanket." Most of those red folk were quite wise. |
| I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" : "Anachronism: "Thy Speech Bewrayeth Thee"" Today's prompt for
gives me the opportunity to use King James English. This is a language I have enjoyed for most of my life. I think I understand it better as an adult than I did as a small child, but I've always enjoyed the colorful, and creative ways the words work together in a sing-song fashion. I became a Christian at age six, and my Dad presented me with a child-sized KJV Bible with my name engraved on the lower right of the front cover. It is one of my most prized treasures. King James English gives me a fighting chance when it comes to deciphering Shakespeare's plays. However, my penchant for dropping English of the 1600s into my poetry doth make me quite the anachronism, verily. Blessings, All! Jay O'Toole |
| I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" : "Lune: "Canopy"" Writing for prompt #6, I created this poem to be presented to
This poem was pretty easy to write when you think about the sky. I hope nobody else had the same idea because the only lune I read was in the example given. Blessings, All! Jay O'Toole |
| I've added a new entry to my book, "These Are My JOTtings, Part #2" : "When You Have Skin in the Game,...Literally." Today's Prompt #5 from
seemed to me an excellent vehicle for processing today's outpatient surgery at my local hospital. When I consider my "Skin in the game" alongside One, Who definitely had eternal "Skin in the game, it certainly puts into perspective the Truth (John 14:6), that the pain I experienced over the past ten days is but cursory compared to the Pain He experienced, which spanned Time and Eternity "Skin in the game" means "Total commitment to Greatest Goal." Jesus did that. I pray His Gift belongs to you. (John 3:3: John 6:37,44; Romans 9:15-16; Romans 10:9-10, 13) Blessings, All! Jay O'Toole |
| Finally, it's time to report in to my friends on Writing.Com. The surgery was a success. Now, in recovery I'm dealing with some pain surrounding the surgery itself, but the 10-Day pains, that have consumed my life for these past 10 days, are pretty much gone. The doctors and nurses were so encouraging. They are so gifted. They took good care of me. The next seven days should be important ones for my restoration as you would expect. I'm feeling so much better than I have for well over a week. Such a Gift! (Ephesians 2:8-10) I got home about 3:00 this afternoon, but since I have not slept through the night, during these past ten, it was nice to have a long nap of multiple hours on the couch. I am now on Writing.Com for almost a half hour. Thank you, Friends, for your prayers. Blessings, Always! Jay O'Toole |

| Prayers are requested. A physical setback put me in the ER for a few hours, yesterday was a week ago (So, not yesterday's Monday, but the previous Monday.) I saw the specialist, today. Surgery is scheduled for Thursday, 11:00 AM (WDC-Eastern Time) in two days (March 5th). It doesn't look to be a major operation, but I have been in varying levels of pain for over a week. I'm looking forward to the surgery with a mixture of relief and anxiety. If you have questions about
