why clowns are best left to tv

On television he looked so happy,
so brightly colored, so fun.

But Bozo in the flesh is quite another thing.

Sure, he's still got the red nose...
but it drips sweat if you watch it long enough.

Sure, his hair is huge and funny
but upon close inspection looks
a bit too much like stiff smelly orangutan pelt.

Yes, he wears a powder blue suit
but in person, you tend to see
the sweaty pit stains.

Indeed, his face is white and painted with a smile
but the white is cracked and doesn't cover up
the stubble very well.

And yes, he laughs, and laughs, and laughs...
at his own racial jokes, in his lewd kind of way
and the huffs of air smell a bit like
gasoline and tuna.

I always wondered why his show was canceled.
