"Well, it's obvious that we can't go forward, and there's no way either of us wants to go back, so, I say that we follow this ledge for a while." Steven said.
"But it's getting dark. What if we stumble too close and fall over the edge?" Laura cried between bites of her fingernail. She'd managed to rid herself of the habit a long time ago, but popping her knuckles wasn't quite helping her frayed nerves at this point.
"From the look of the sky, I think we may have another hour or so before it begins to get dark, so we'll go a little further before we set up camp for the night. Is that okay with you, your highness?
"Oh! Will you just stop it already? I'm getting a little tired of you picking at me. Did I ask to get lost in these darn woods with you? No! I told you we shouldn't try it without a guide, but would you listen? Typical man. . .You all seem to think that any way you go is the right way. Now we're lost, so what are you going to do about it now?" she scolded as she paced around in a circle, slinging her arms wide.
"That's more like it," he laughed. "I was beginning to get a little worried about you. I've never seen you give up so easily."
"I'm sorry, Steven, it's just that I've felt so strange since we entered these woods.
