You begin look at the inscriptions on the box with interest. You read something about the passing of time, youth, age, and transfer. But nothing clear. Some of the writing had worn off.
"The writing is a bit worn and confusing. I can do some cross referencing with my other artifacts to see what it likely means. Have you opened it at all?"
"Nope, just got it".
"Good. I rather not disrupt anything inside. Now go ahead for your weekend and have fun!".
Rob leaves as Mr. Berns packs up some of his belongings and organizes his room. He looks at the box with interest. Something seemed different about this artifact, but he couldn't tell what. His inner research mind couldn't stop thinking about it. He put down his bag and took a seat in front of the box after closing the door to his classroom. The sounds of students had subsided. Mr. Berns picked up the box and looked at the inscriptions with detail. Whoever wrote this spent a great detail of time with the details and intricacies of the writing. A knock was heard at the door. Mr. Berns looked over to see Mr. Grisham, the history professor, waving to him. Mr. Berns motioned him in.
"Hey Berns. I see your student brought the box he told me about!". Grisham was close to retiring, which showed on his belly. It was not only growing but it was quite round and taut to say the least. Mr. Berns was partly responsible with all the times he took Grisham out. Of course, Grisham seemed to like it because of its look and how it annoyed his wife. He had a genial appearance and sport some dark hair and green eyes. Patting Mr. Bern's shoulder, he looked at the box, "Wow, that looks old. And beautiful!".
"Yes indeed! I was trying to figure out what it was saying on the side..."
"Oh come on! I want to see what's inside instead!" Grisham flipped the box open. A huge gust of wind come out in huge force pulling Grisham's hand in the opening.
"What in God's name is happening!". Grisham was pulling desperately back from the box. You were shocked at the spectacle. But you tried pulling against Grisham as best as you could. But you could see his hand going into the box more.
"I don't know what to do! It's pulling too hard!" Mr. Berns was sweating profusely. Soon, Grisham was being slurped up by the box as the box pulled him in. You let go, but you feel Grisham grab your belt with your other hand. As his body disappeared inside, his weight and the force of the wind pulled you as well.
"Damn, not me too!". However, your hand touched the opening. He felt his body leap from the chair and his legs fling into the air as he was pulled in. It felt like he was as loose as pasta as his hand, arms, and then body were squeezed into the box without any apparent pain. He looked back to see the lid close behind him as he descended into darkness. A peaceful zen state came over him as his eyes closed. And then nothing.
