Never Saw a Purple Cow, But.... {//center}

Silas Brown had finished harvesting his corn when he spotted something. He took off his glasses and cleaned them with his handkerchief. When he put them back on, it was still there.
“Well, I never…” he said to no one except himself.
He stood staring at the phenomenon, then shook his head as if to clear the sight from his mind. Still, it sat there, a green crow, bold as you please on a fencepost near his cornfield. It seemed disappointed to find no corn in the field.
So, Silas went into the field and gleaned some stray kernels for it.

“It must be bad enough being green in a glossy black world without being hungry too,” was his reasoning. He piled what he had gotten on another fencepost. He was pleased to see the crow fly over and start eating.
Amazingly, as he ate, the crow began to get his black feather color back. It cocked a beady black eye at Silas.
“Help yourself, there’s plenty left for pickings” he said to the crow. As if he understood, the bird flew into the field and began foraging. Silas let out a laugh to see him.
Going on with the rest of his chores, the farmer soon forgot the incident. The next morning on his way to milk the cows, Silas found a shiny gold coin on the cornfield fence post.
“Well, would you look at that! Payment for the corn! He began to give his best crow call. The green and black crow came in less than five minutes.
Silas noticed the crow was almost all black, except for a couple of small green feathers on his head. He studied the bird. “You look like Robin Hood, so that’s what I’ll call you.”
