Reflections on the amen pew

I’ve been in churches
Silent and grave
I’ve been in places
Where flags boldly wave

In every church
No matter how stiff
There is a contingent
That brings a lift

Pastors chearleaders
And evangelists dream
Encourage fervent prayer
You know who I mean

I trust in Jesus
and nod my assent
I pray for revival
And men to repent

But often I wonder
When I see the place
Churches Amen Pews
Bring a smile to my face

If Godly in fervor
We do rejoice
Yet what is the spirit
This thunderous voice
