“I’m so thirsty! I guess I need a drink,” I told myself. So, I got out of bed and got one. I drank a whole glass and filled another to bring back to my bedside. Less than twenty minutes later I got up again to make room for the water I just drank.
I sighed and closed my eyes. My mind began to wander the halls of conjecture.
“I wonder where my other pearl earring went?”
“Did I charge my phone?
“What should I make for breakfast tomorrow?”
By this time, I had flipped my pillow at least ten times, looking for a cool spot. Finally, I threw it on the floor. Then my mattress got sweaty, and I had to pick it up again.
And so, it went for what seemed like hours. My mind continued to race, which made my head sweat. As for my pillow, it spent more time off the bed than on. My mouth got parched again, but I decided not to get another drink.
“This is totally ridiculous!” I announced to myself.
I reached into my environment to listen to sounds of silence. There is no true silence, I’ve found. At last, I fell asleep.
