My writing philosophy is write until my hands bleed, take a nap, and then go at the words with a industrial-strength wood chipper until what's left is slick, short, and stylish. I don't know many words, and hate my thesaurus. Good writing to me is descriptive, short, and says with one word what most writers say in twelve.
