THE RIVAL How much I loved the man With eyes as gray as smoke I knew that someday we would wed; He was a handsome bloke! For months we were inseparable; Then my world began to fall apart For my love found another Who claimed his soul and heart! The rival was my sister And I tried hard to forgive; I know she couldn't help it, but I'll not forget as long as I live. Cigarette smoke clouds my vision And hides the tears from view; My sister and my rival Stood there and said "I do". I have to wish them happiness As they walk out of my life; The rivalry had to end When she became his wife. Countrymom 2/24/03 |
