Abyss

Life sometimes puts you in places like the abyss.

Deep in the abyss
It is found,
A darkness
Like no other.
Where beacons
Of light beams,
Found only in dreams,
Peak through without wisdom.
Where dreams of youthful passion
Made decisions of yesterday
And the struggles of today.
Bringing forth the wisdom
Of vintage wine,
Sipped from life's grail.
Reflections from another time
Clouded by the vine.
Memories of the things you
Thought you'd be,
And the dreams
You didn't see,
But still remember.
