Sibling rivalry between werewolves gets intense.

Day 12: “Beware the moon, David.” — Jack, An American Werewolf in London (1981)

David knew the note was from his sister. The paper had Christine's scent all over it. What was she playing at? Dad had made him alpha after the geezer had stepped down.

Okay fine, she wanted to send a challenge? He'd bite and make sure that bitch stayed down. She was a pathetic weakling who didn't know her place. There was no way Christine was winning a fair fight.

That evening, around sundown, he met Christine in Hyde Park. She stood in front of the Fountain of Life staring him down. There were only a few couples and small children around. None suspecting what was about to happen.

"David," she said. Nothing more; not even how are you or surprised you came. The silence was getting weird.

"You sure you want to do this here?" he asked. "Not very considerate."

"Whatever," Christine said. "They're like sheep. Everyone will scatter once the claws come out. Moon's rising, we don't have time to talk."

Clothing burst, fur and tails grew, soon the siblings were snarling beasts. Parents snatched their children up. They all ran away from the monsters.

David circled Christine till he drew even with her side. She dodged out of the way and David's head smashed into the fountain. He was dazed as concrete shattered and water spilled over his paws.

When he recovered, David couldn't see his sister. With a guttural growl she tackled him. He barely managed to hold her snapping jaws at bay. How could she be so ferocious?

Christine apparently hadn't finished transforming. As the moon rose high in the sky, she grew larger and stronger. Soon she was an unbearable weight.

David's limbs gave out. Unable to keep her at bay, she managed to puncture an ear, tear open his lip and rip out some fur on his neck. He whimpered in submission.

She acknowledged the surrender and got off David. He changed back into his human form. Grateful he'd worn flexible briefs he sat waiting for his injuries to stop throbbing. "I don't get it," he said. "I should've won that fight."

"Thats the power of the Hunter's Moon," she said. "Learned that I'm at my most powerful during this month than any other. I really should've payed that psychic more."
