This poem explores the themes of societal constraints and psychological entrapment. |
| Man-Made Cages It took mages and sages To lock us in culture's cages From whence we cannot flee, For we haven't got the key-- Neither you nor me Can leave these cages. It took man many ages To fill history's pages From whence we cannot flee, For we haven't got the key-- Neither you nor me Can leave these cages. It took so much carnage To squeeze us so tight in cages From whence we cannot flee, For we haven't got the key-- Neither you nor me Can leave these cages. The soul, bound and raged, Is accustomed to these cages. We feel fine within this jail-- Never would we truly wail, And we cannot fail To see the need for cages. |
