All the Way “Boys get in the car! You don’t need to wear your jackets but bring them.” Dad yelled. Jim and Ronny jumped up from the pile of Legos. “And you need shoes AND socks! Make sure you have socks that match each other, and with no holes in them please!” Dad added. The boys stopped and looked at the socks they had grabbed, both turned back to grab socks with no holes in them. Then started back for the shoes. “Do your socks match each other?” Mom yelled. Both boys stopped again, then turned back to the sock drawer to find pairs that matched. Finally getting to the door, Jim yelled “Do we need our jackets?” “Yes!” Mom said, “You might not have to wear them, but it’s good to have them just in case. Make sure they’re in the car. Hurry up!” The boys both ran back for their jackets, flinging things off the rack and grabbing their favorites. Once again running toward the kitchen door that opened into the garage. Mom was putting something in the trunk, “Do you have water bottles? Make sure they’re full of water too.” The boys flung their jackets in the back seat and ran to get their water bottles. “I can’t find my water bottle!” Jim yelled. “When did you have it last?” Dad called from the kitchen, “It’s probably in your backpack…” “That’s right!” he yelled back, running to find his backpack, finding and filling his water bottle. Then back to the car. Ronnie was already in. As Dad pulled out of the garage, Mom said, “Nice work boys!” Both boys smiled, then Ronny asked, “Where are we going anyway?” and Jim said, “Yeah, where are we going?” Mom and Dad didn’t stop laughing, all the way to the park. |
