Write a poem about possibilities.

Possibles

No one can hit triple skeet.
Ah, but I can and have.
Just takes practice.
A lot of practice.

Your folks will never let you
backpack across Europe at 16.
Ah, but they did, and I did,
and we lived to tell the tales!

Next to no one ever gets a book published,
next to no one jumps out of a perfectly good helicopter,
next to no one survives stage 4 cervical cancer
and then has a baby naturally.

Ah, but I did, survived, and have
because I believed I could.
Firmly, unquestioningly, determinedly.
Refusing to listen to what people said.

My husband has a possibles bag.
It is what muzzle loaders carry their supplies in
out in the woods. Along with a handful of possible
pebbles I've collected along the way.
