Myths v Facts - about God, and Suffering

Do you actually know what the Bible says?

Many people today blame God for all the suffering in the world Yet, most people have never actually read the Bible, or are fully aware of what Jesus himself actually taught. This has resulted in many myths and lies about God. You may be surprised by the following facts;

Suffering and Evil

Myth - Suffering is God's will, and good for the soul. God takes good people to be with him in heaven.

Fact – God never intended humans to suffer, and most suffering is caused by mankind's selfish ways. The Bible reveals “It is the foolishness of earthling man that distorts his way, and then his heart becomes enraged against God himself.” The Bible further tells us - “When under trial, let no-one say - “I am being tried by God. He does not try anyone.” In fact, the Bible gives guidance which would prevent most suffering (see Isaiah 48.18).

Death

Myth – Death is natural, but we have an immortal soul, which goes to heaven - if we are good, or burns in Hell - if we are bad.

Fact – The Bible reveals that, humans do not have an immortal soul, and that, when we die we are safe - in God's unlimited memory. The majority of people who have died will be “resurrected” (brought back to life) on a renewed earth. The Bible promises - “Your dead ones will live” (Isaiah 26.19), There is no such place as a burning Hell.

Religion

Myth - All religions lead to God.

Fact – That is neither logical, nor Biblical. Jesus Christ described the “True” religion. He said that there would be “Many false prophets”, and that “Many will say to me - “Lord did we not do things in your name”, but I will say to them - “I never knew you, get away from me.” The Bible describes - “One faith”, and it says that someone who hates others cannot love God.

The Future

Myth – Life is pointless, and one day the earth will be destroyed by either nuclear catastrophe, Global Warming, or an asteroid.

Fact – God has a wonderful future in store - for good people, and our beautiful planet. The Bible assures us that “God will bring to ruin those ruining the earth", that “The earth endures forever,” and that God will “Give you a future and a hope.”
