"I don't know how to cook spaghetti bolognese though I think you need cheese parmesan ."

"Don't forget the ground meat."

"Who decided the dog wanted Italian for her birthday dinner?"

From the corner came a slight whine.

"The dog..."

"I don't have the energy for this. The dog's birthday is not a recognized holiday one still needs to go to work. I volunteer." I grabbed my purse and left.
Behind me I heard the dog whimper an NC17 level of swearing and the sounds of pots and pans hitting the floor. My romantic partner was upset too.
