A poem about a short-term relationship. Some humor to make light of hard feelings. |
| Sign Driving to work I saw a sign, LOST CAT The letters painstakingly Filled in with black ink. I want to call the number, Tell the bereaved Some cats are meant to be lost, Or else lose themselves. My humor is too biting, Message lost as it stings. It’s true. Whatever you gave that cat, He’d had his fill of it. Love you had for that cat, He walked off with it. Don’t look for that cat, He’ll be back if he wants to be. Better to forget the cat, Get yourself a dog; A better place to deposit your care, Dogs being far more loyal. |
