| The bloody corpse, Its head awry, Victim of an unknown guy, Lay across the entry stair. It was a child who found her there. Screaming, to his mother ran. She called to a passing police man. "Bloody murder!" She described, In his notebook he transcribed. On his radio he called the squad, This naïve young PC Plod. "What day is it?" The Sergeant queried, He being somewhat wearied. "Halloween ... oh, golly gosh, I bet it's just a spooky josh." "Go check it son," the Sergeant said, "I want to get home to my bed." With caution he approached the scene, His face a putrid shade of green, He poked the body with his stick, Then he saw it was a trick. 20 lines |
