A child fights for a better life |
Banging on these four walls The air vibrates with dull thuds Slamming offenses between my ears Short-circuiting my brain Leaving me lost in the past Of someone else's memories I am not your mistake Feeling around in the dark My fingers land in the sticky web Of piled up crumpled hopes From your broken-down life Hiding deep within the corner creases Is where I make my bed I will not be your punching bag Sunlight fights to creep through the cracked window Jumping up upon my feet Determination floods my soul Now is the time to breakout Of this life-sucking prison No more traveling through Your dark passages of pain You will shape my thoughts no more Shattering your self-imposed curses Cutting them free from my being The blood will dry from the scars As I do what you never could I Stand (28 Lines) Written for "Rebel Poetry Contest" [18+] |
