| This poem is entered in "Shadows and Light Poetry Contest" . Over the Line Next time, next time We'll watch where we're going we tell ourselves No one could argue with the choices... You could argue, but it would be pointless A foregone conclusion in one instance The power to pick the route so childish and easily abused But that reflection in the center line mesmerizes You see more about the one doing the choosing over time and certain consequences are inevitable Not being chosen has a certain sort of panache Over the line we go into infinity or we swerve back to narrowly avoid disaster Because there are consequences to choices beyond a street scene choices that reverberate over time and space and the leftover remnant of effort not made and money unspent next time, next time 16 Lines |
