Virginity

A note on gender equality

It bothers me how society places such a high value on virginity, but to be honest, that stems from our evolutionary heritage. Before DNA testing, a male could never be 100% sure that he was the father of any given child, but the woman always knew because it came out of her body. Virginity was a promise, never a guarantee, of paternity. As our species develops further in science and technology, I'd like to see that change, but it's going take time to shake the dirt off our roots.
