A Love Poem, Free Verse |
| Yesterday, I married you You saw me standing at the top of the stairs I smiled What absolute adoration I saw in your eyes Locked on mine as you bounded up the stairs Anxious to make me your wife I held out my hand for you to lead me down the steps My fingers trembling in your warm grasp Cheeks stained with a hectic blush of anticipation My blush for you only We walked hand in hand through the throng of guests All thoughts of a processional and any protocol lost to this moment This moment Yesterday, you married me What words did the Reverend say? I don't remember them anymore I only remember your reply to him, after you said 'I do' That not even death would part you from your angel And what did I say in return, my darling? That I take you as my Love, my Husband Forever and Always Yesterday was the beginning of a lifetime together Of Love and Laughter and Growth Of Caring and Sharing and Trust Of Sweet Surrender Yesterday, we married each other With Gratitude For our Yesterdays that brought us to this point And for our Tomorrows yet to be |
