A poem for my youngest sister, who is 17 years young. |
| To my baby sister, Whose beauty knows no bounds, The brilliance you hold inside you, Has the ability to dumbfound; You are so young and carefree, But your soul is old and wise, It terrifies and delights me, To see myself in your eyes; I'm delighted because you're perceptive, You feel as much as you see, I'm terrified because you're too trusting, I know that you would agree; The world can be so cruel and daunting, You are growing up too fast, I wish it'd never show it's ugly face, I wish the innocence would last; I want you to know I am so proud; What a woman you're going to be! Just enjoy your innocence a bit longer, For a while please remain free; The world as I said can be scary, Sometimes -no- most times, unfair, But in a few years you will face life on your own, Just know I will always be there.
