Two lovers part ways, after the flame has burned out |
| He looked at her, but didn’t know, If there would ever come a day; The sun would blush, the wind would blow And his heart would feel the same. He looked at her, and felt the change, The sudden switch of part. Her smile no longer flew adrift Along the edges of his heart. He looked at her, and there it was, Shouting in his worn-out face; The gentle hush, of tepid eyes That once were his saving grace. She looked at him, and felt ablaze Wondered if he’d ever known How much she’d fought along the road, How much she’d carried all alone. She looked at him, and sighed within, Free of everything to come. Of torrid nights there had been many; How quickly scorched they had become. She looked at him, and blew a kiss, One last he would remember. If this was it, she wouldn’t know But they’d always have that first September. |
