A short poem, slight trigger warning 178 words |
| Brought in with the wind, (1) The icy blanket that soothes the grass And covers each leaf Crunches underfoot, Destroyed without a thought (5) Twisting, jagged, fragile frost It’s tiny, insignificant flakes Balanced on the edge of firs While the wind bites cold and frigid Turning warm breath into fog (10) Muffled sound of snowfall fill the air As the soft snow covers the world And the wind and snow dance and swirl Painting it all in white and grey Blanketing the remains of an old day (15) During the dim, silent hour A pair of shadowed eyes watch On an exhale of mist swallowed by the snow Falling into her hair as she sits Curled up on the roof (20) And balanced on the edge Thin lines of frost glisten on her pale cheeks The sharp crystals covering her eyelashes Leave red scratches under her shadowed eyes On an exhale of mist swallowed by the snow (25) The red lines stand out Stark against her pale skin Growing paler still as she watches the world whiten Comforted by the warmth of Frost’s loneliness (29) |
