Pier

A little time spent at the pier can be refreshing.

I take my girlfriend out there

crossing past the shady neighborhoods and the weirdos who give

suspicious, darting looks, and ignoring the strange man who decides to bring his loud, aggressive dogs,

and we sit for hours

knowing that our love is childish and probably going to end badly,

but here we sit at the pier,

and one day my grandchildren will know of this moment.
