A poem about Autumn, written for the "Verdant Poetry Contest" |
AUTUMN People seem to swoon Over Autumn. Extolling the virtues of Fall colours – Crimson, yellow, copper, bronze. Rejoicing in the season Of mellow fruitfulness! Counting sleeps ‘til Christmas. I see only death In Autumn. Farewell, my summer. Out comes the fake fur coat, Sock drawer replenished. Spindly twigs Stripped of leaves Shiver sadly In the cold, twilight air. 18 lines |
