I wanted to run but my feet disobeyed.  Sweat covered my body. The moment of truth lurked around the corner.

Rumblings permeated my thoughts.  I needed to accept my fate. 

I took one step forward, pushed aside the curtain, and stepped through it.

Applause erupted.  I really hoped the talent show judges loved my song.
