She raised her hands in front of her eyes, their lids remaining closed, as she wasn’t able to face the horrifying, mind-jolting reality of what had just happened.  Slipping one lid open and then the other, her hands aligned into focus, her brain registering the feel of the blood running down them; and she screamed!
