Most mothers dream of the best for their kids. What dream would I give my mom if I could?

If I could change one person's life for good,
I'd change the life of she who gave me mine.
She pushed for me to be all that I could,
and prayed that I would have the chance to shine.

I know she's proud of who I am today,
and loves the woman I turned out to be.
But years ago when we first met in May,
What image of me did she preconceive?

For then she saw herself in infant shape,
And dreams she held for me had been her own.
A chance to right her past in her new babe,
and give me hope in life she wished she'd known.

If I could change a life at my command:
That she could live herself that hopeful plan.
