Flash Fiction-a special message of change and how we come to see the world in our own way. |
A Sky Full of People By Keaton Foster Above me, as far as I can see and dare to believe, is blue. No clouds hang high or sink low. A golden sun burns bright, day or night. Perilous birds soar just beyond my reach, reminding me of all I have yet to achieve. In this new place, truth resides, and hope is implied. It will always remain so. I won’t allow change. I will not return to what was. I am different. The hardest parts of the journey were mine to make. I know the way. I know what it takes. I won’t forget. A sky full of people who love me, for reasons I now understand, fills my world. They tell me what I need to hear when I need it most. They hold nothing back, and for that, I am thankful. Without them, I’d be below the ground, looking up. Instead, I’m here, high above, looking down. I entered this world curled in confusion and disarray. Now I stand tall with clarity. I see all that surrounds me for what it is—nothing more, nothing less. To have survived what I did, I am blessed in ways I could never fully express. I am forever obligated to live my best. Those who love me deserve nothing less than everything I can give, everything I owe them. They saved me, restoring what I thought was lost. It took years to realize, but now I know, and I will never forget. A sky full of people who love me exists beyond a world I thought I’d never miss. I’m glad I found my way here, found them. They saved me from what I was becoming and helped me become more. All I see now is blue and those who love me as they do. A sky full of people surrounds and defines me. I fear nothing of what is to come. I have them, and they have me. Together, we have come to be… A Sky Full of People by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2011 |
