"Writers Cramp" challenge entry-Free Verse |
Lost Muse A poet sat dejectedly. I've lost my muse, all words are gone. Yet determined not to quit, He quickly penned: "Dolphins outlined in luminous starlight..." Deeply sighing, he stopped. The words didn't resonate within him, But he craved release poetry offered. So pen in hand he wrote again: "Campfire glow brought a plethora of fireflies..." Frustration mounting, teeth clenched. The page now crumpled on the floor. The words deeply buried, He tried to exhume: "Sand dollars littered limitless shorelines..." Disgusted, disapproving, The paper bleeding, crimson marked. Prose eluded him like thin mist He longed to firm in verse: "Fog magically enveloped a fairy..." Thoughts spinning in a chaotic mind, Yet his notebook still quite bare. Perhaps a good free write To clear his racing mind: "Full moon fulfilled former fantasies..." So tired. It's just not working. The page began to mock. His determination waning. But maybe one more try: "High tide come on 'morrows..." This used to be his passion; Bringing beauty and peace to his world. Curse this hateful writers block! So he picks up his digital camera, To try and take captive his muse. ![]() ![]() Line Count: 35 Prompt: Use the following words in order: dolphins campfire sand dollars fog full moon high tide digital camera Contest Submission:
