Poem on man's common perception of himself in ballad meter. |
| The death of man? The death of beast? What diff'rence lies therein? The only diff'rence that exists Is that which men create. The story held so close by us Speaks poorly of our sin. But I must say I don't believe That sins originate With Adam, very first of men, With whom we did begin. Instead do I propose that we This tale did fabricate. And surely those who place mankind Above his closest kin Are fools for claiming such a thing For men are not so great. |
