Last Christmas

I was in hospital

underwent a major

operation there



No Christmas mass

no Christmas cakes

no Christmas visiting

for me last Christmas



On Christmas day

my wife had organized

a Christmas party for me

at hospital in Colombo



Doctors and nurses

attendants and co-workers

all came and wished me

a merry, merry Christmas.



As I served

the Christmas cakes

the agony of operation

died fast away



Instead I felt

an inner joy of happiness

a love brought by my wife

that will last forever
