Deception

The dishonesty that can happen in a relationship,

Like when black ivy is spun into a weave
The deep confusion between truth and lies
Greatly distorts what we seem to perceive
And from then on the relationship dies.

First small things seem to be what they are not
And then bigger issues begin to twist.
The more you find out the more you get hot
And you wish the lies would cease and desist.

Now you begin to see the real person
Who was hidden under a velvet cloak.
You wonder, were they worth your exertion?
Was all of this pain just a simple joke?

I have to say goodbye now that I see
All of the deception you try on me.
