Friendship

This is a poem writtten for my friend, essentially thanking her for all she's done.

Friendship.
This word has many meanings

But to me it means
Being there until the end,
Holding my hand when I’m too scared.
Standing up for me
When I don’t have the guts.
Creating courage,
Where there was none before.
Not yelling when I call
In the middle of the night.
Listening to my problems
And not judging me at all.
It’s a shoulder to cry on,
When I can’t get through the day.

Yet it means so much more to me,
Than these simple words.
It’s a bond that runs deep,
Deeper than time,
Stronger than distance.
Nothing can destroy this bond.

It’s cliché,
Yet our friendship will last longer than time.
