Dear Daddy

This was a first try at expressing some old feelings.

Dear Daddy
I grew up just the other day
And there is something I want to say
It won't take long so stay a moment
I'll show you life with no YOU in it

I don't recall the day you left
You see I wasn't born just yet
It must of been something grand                 
That took you from holding my hand

The years rolled by without a care
And all of a sudden a new dad was there
He did not come with love to give
Simply a life of hell to live

Days of hunger and going without
Compared not to nights of crying out
Tears of shame covered my bed
I believed you were surely dead

The only question that comes to mind
The only answer I seek to find
Dear daddy tell me before I die
Explain and help me understand WHY?
