Fear

A poem about fear of failure.

The fear built up inside
Fear of failure
Fear of letting everyone down
Fear of letting herself down
She didn’t want to be scared
She was just happy to feel
Any emotion made her remember the demons she had fought to get where she now stood
A place where dreams existed
Where success was an option
Life was simpler
When she didn’t want
When she didn’t care
When her dreams were hidden so deep inside that even she hadn’t realised what they were
She used to float around each day without a purpose
Without a care in the world
Only now she did care
And success was slipping away
And failure crept up behind her like a thief in the night
