A poem about what once was but has forever changed. |
| EYES Across the fiery summer sky It watches. That once beautiful, glowing orb Slowly goes blind. Final moments regarding us. Soon the cyclops will blink. The eye will cry and glitter the blindness. Sparkling tears will puddle Making a new stone eye. Drivers will stop their cars, Lean out of their windows, Stare. Sister beside me, Lights her cigarette Kisses me and smiles. Strokes my hair Tells me she loves me, Not to be scared. We talk of things that I remember. Why can’t I remember my daddy’s face? I can feel the air part. My sister’s arms spread wide. There, I will fall Like a tired avalanche. |
