Another piece fora AL contest..Theme- Life, Death, and Rebirth.

I open my eyes to this new world,
For the very first time,
I take that first breath,
And suddenly I feel alive,

I live life on the edge,
A leader, not a follower,
I have taken my fate in my hands,
My heart beats to life’s eternal drum,

But in an abrupt moment,
My life comes to a standstill,
As violence and hatred take it all away from me,
I find myself falling,
As my world fades away,
The light grows darker,
And the shadows claim my soul again.
