I wrote this for my sons girlfriend when they broke up after 5 years of being together

Why can't I let go of you?
Why am I feeling oh so blue?
Why don't I know what to do?
Because my love for you is true 
If you didn't want to be with me
You should of just let me be
I didn't see what others could see
Why did you say that we'll never part?
Is it because you could steal my heart?
That's the place that you wanted to start
Maybe that's why we had to part
Was it really all that smart?
