As I lie awake in bed,
Wondering if you sleep;
I want to know just how you know
My eyes can't sleep a wink.
I lie here and I think about
The day and what's gone by,
While you lie there the same as I
Just looking at the sky.
How can it be that o'er the miles
Two minds can never rest,
But still know how the other feels,
Each wishing each the best?
We both arise and greet the sun,
Our vigils we have kept.
We've made it through another night,
With having never slept.
With the sunrise starts anew
Another lonely day,
Hoping each will somehow find
A love to come to stay.
