A poem about not being able to write poetry.

“Prose"

I find I cannot write poetry
about loss and anger
there is not a lighthouse for me
it is cliche
for I am the product of divorce.
–Or about fears and worries,
the mill is still in my family
and I am under thirty.

I cannot write
about love
crossing the sword bridge and
fighting the fjord guardian
for I am a girl.
–Or about temptation
for I have never stood
temple’s edge with a devil
and I am baptized.

And so dear reader,
for these reasons, I cannot
write poetry.
