A poem about the season's first snow and my last season. |
| The First Snow (free verse) Sometime during the night while I was snug in bed, you fell from the dark sky, made earth a white wonderland. I woke with the gray dawn and glanced out a window. you lay and shone brilliant underneath fluffy flakes. You are so serene lying there, so quiet. Not a mark had been made on your lovely quilt of glory. Later, my little birds came looking for seed. I threw them cake crumbs in celebration of you. This is my last season; you are my first snow. Memories remind me of your kind, dear friendship. |
