"Inner Strength"

My soul is poisoned by these chains,
These chains I cannot break
They give me fears, they give me doubts
And yet they give me strength.

I may not live a hundred years
I may not hold some things dear
But my love will always show -
There is so much more to my life than just me
This is what I know.

I take a breath,
I take a step towards the path I have not uncovered yet
My heart and mind will be my guide
My true friends always at my side.

Patience and hope may not set me free,
But they release the courage inside of me
To be true to myself at all times,
And not let these chains become my alibi.

The challenges I have to embrace,
Are sometimes plentiful, sometimes unique
Regardless of the choices I must make,
My spirit will give me the peace I seek.

Fate has pushed me in one direction,
With possible endings that I cannot see,
But when I imagine them from the inside out
They are as wonderful as I deserve them to be.
