How it ends

A poem about betrayal and mistrust

Sadness looms as my days go by
I’ve lost myself again this time
I brood and wonder why oh why
Why it has to end this way.

I thought there was more that I could do
I wanted to be there till the end
I thought I’d be there just for you
But this is how it had to end.

I thought that you would wait for me
But then you left me all alone
I thought that we were meant to be
But I was wrong for now you’re gone.

Sadness brings up thoughts of you
Thoughts of betrayal and mistrust
I cry knowing that we are through
For life is sometimes so unjust.

This is how it comes to end
With so much sorry and so much pain
This is how we come to end
With all our love going down the drain.
