I wrote this after my first serious relationship ended.

The promise I made,
That I long to keep,
That I'll be beside you forever while you sleep.
That promise I made,
In youth and love
That I'll stay beside you
Won't keep.
I take it back.
I throw it away.
I never loved you
Not even a day.
I promise you
That you'll see me again
When I'm happy
And life is sweet.
Until that day,
We'll be far apart.
For that promise I made
Won't keep.
